It seems impossible for anyone in the world of cricket to break records set by Sachin Tendulkar, except to one, that is he himself, who is all set to break his records every single time he goes to play. He reached a level where every extra run he scores or game he plays is a record. When he knows that none of his contemporary players could crack it, why he still has that fire in his belly?

No compromise in standards. No compromise in quality. No compromise in design and technology. Even when he knew his date of death, his urge to launch one more masterpiece a day before death kept Steve Jobs alive in hearts of millions of people. What is that it distinguishes him from the rest of the world?

There are hundreds of players and tens of entrepreneurs around us who are extant to Sachin and Steve why only these people are exceptional in that pool?

For them Success was just a pursuit and they always believe that there is lot to do. When they failed they took it as an opportunity to understand the way not to do it. They constantly coursed their mind and thoughts towards next destiny whenever they reached one. They had passion to Succeed in life, to be distinct in the pool they are in. Passion should not be time driven it should be constant and it should be in delivering the best in what we could do. No matter how minutely we are different from others if we consistently deliver the best in what we do, we will be exceptional one day.

It should be all there down under our bellies and on top of our minds that am going to deliver my best every time in every small thing I DO.

When our dreams and goals are small our passions short live. We have to believe and understand that Success is not the end but beginning of another challenge another passion another opportunity to explore.

A failure and a Success both can make us Exceptional if we have the right attitude.

If it’s a failure the fallen should arise to conquer the surviving.

If it is Success then risen should conquer the unconquered.

Keep passion alive and it will make you exceptional.

I don’t know whether someone ever believed that one man can change the perspective of world . . . I never believed it until I saw Ipods to IPads changing the way I look at world . . . One man who had vision to execute did it . . . He is none other than Steve Jobs, he changed the way we look at world from Ipod to Ipads every single thing he did is a revolution !!

No disease nor any cancer can ever defeat your motive nor your vision when you have strong desire . . . Journey from Apple’s Iphone 3 to Iphone 4s is as short as the time that Steve could make to step world to the next level and he himself to move to the other worlds, matter of few months . . .

He knew how to live when he lived and when he left . . . A true visionary of his own destiny!! No IIT’s nor IIM’s not any ISB can ever produce a Steve until it is within the individual . . . He proved world, . . that we need no formal degree to be a successful human being. . . All it matters is the goal we set.

He knew how to connect dots backwards . . . Think Forward and Work in Present!!

Stay Hungry . . . Stay Foolish . . . he said and he did  . . . without him world would have never known about the different fonts to type !!

Learn from citizens of JAPAN hit by a disastrous Tsunami how to LEAD . . . They know how . . .

1. THE CALM : Not a single visual of chest-beating or wild grief. Sorrow itself has been elevated.

2. THE DIGNITY : Disciplined queues for water and groceries. Not a rough word or a crude gesture.

3. THE ABILITY: The incredible architects, for instance. Buildings swayed but didn’t fall.

4. THE GRACE: People bought only what they needed for the present, so everybody could get something.

5. THE ORDER: No looting in shops. No honking and no overtaking on the roads. Just understanding.

6. THE SACRIFICE: Fifty workers stayed back to pump sea water in the N-reactors. How will they ever be repaid?

7. THE TENDERNESS:Restaurants cut prices. An unguarded ATM is left alone. The strong cared for the weak.

8. THE TRAINING: The old and the children, everyone knew exactly what to do. And they did just that.

9. THE MEDIA: They showed magnificent restraint in the bulletins. No silly reporters. Only calm reportage.

10. THE CONSCIENCE: When the power went off in a store, people put things back on the shelves and left quietly

What is beyond pain . . . only few people know what is in there.

John Forbes Nash. . . How many of us know about him?  I call him a Living Legend ! !

He was suffering from mental disorder called Paranoid Schizophrenia, In other words it means a mental illness where a person has fixed beliefs that are either false or imaginative or highly unrealistic. Usually accompanied by experiences of seemingly real perception of something that is not actually present. (from 1959 – 1970). Eleven years of pain where he never knew what was real and what was imaginary in his life!!

What if someone ties you over the bed, inject you with insulin, fill your mouth with a stick and put you on a high voltage shock bed and you never know whats wrong with you. Imagine the pain . . . one bears physically and Imagine the pain he bears mentally for the perceptions he feel are real.

Someone would have given it up after all this . . .but not John Nash, he was a great mathematician with the support of his wife, he started working out in his mind to come out of the imaginary world he is in. He returned back to the Princeton University where he belonged to. He enabled hundreds of young minds and scientists to continue research in the field of Mathematics.

Doctorates and awards bowed down at his attitude, defeated by his determination to win against pain.He evolved as an outstanding individual.In the year 1994 John Forbes Nash was awarded with Nobel Memorial prize in Economic Sciences for his research in mathematics on Game theory, differential Geometry and Partial differential equations. His theory holds good in Market economics, Artificial Intelligence, Computing, evolutionary Biology and so on ….John Nash born in 1928, his legacy continues and will continue to make difference.

He knows what is beyond pain . .  . and he definitely is a BEAUTIFUL MIND !!

If we start working on our fears and if we are ready to take that pain and look beyond it, we can serve the purpose of our existence !! That is what John did and that is what we all need to do !!

What keeps us distinguished and ahead of many others in life is our courage to accept defeat. 

Failures, misfortunes, errors are always a part of our lives . . . !

Everyday we live in past, making our present unworthy and our future uncertain . .

If we keep counting the odds of life we can never pursuit  happiness to cherish the blissful moments of  present. . .

One of the gravity that pulls us down is the fear ….

A Fear to start. A Fear to continue. AFear to end. A Fear to accept. Anything and everything that has fear in it, pulls us down to grow against it !!

Many emperors in India, never made a page of their existence in its history . . . Shahjahan the Moghul emperor who was no great than his predecessors, lead the way how to grow against gravity the so called fear … The monument he built stands as pride of nation . . . Tajmahal carries his legend embossed in gold. Which shows his courage to start, continue and finish building a great monument.

The limitations we set to ourselves is another gravity that pulls us down !!

We are all more capable than what we assume to be. .

If James Watt who discovered that steam has power to work . . . assumed that is only what he could contribute . . . World would have never discovered the steam engines and Steam turbines ! ! He believed that he has potential to derive more from his discovery which lead to greatest inventions of the Science world !!

Say bye to fears . . . Learn to say no to the limitations . . . Act against them . . .Achieve excellence !

World would have never been the same what we are enjoying today! Imagine if Edison had given it up when he failed to invent bulb for first time …. Do you think he might have 1090 patents to his name for his unique inventions!!

A true tale of failure which leads to success of an entity in 19^th century is what I like to share with you all today …

Proctor and Gamble the well-known company of this century was a candle manufacturing company in early 19^th century. After the invention of bulb, the candle making company started to lose majority of its business. Company was almost in a stage of lock out. During that period one of the employees in production unit forgot to switch off a machine that he was using while he headed for his lunch. Soon after he returned from the break he saw foam spread all around the machine from the chemicals it was filled in with.  He thought of disposing it off but while he was off to dispose it in a water front around there arose an idea of manufacturing ivory soaps from that foam.

The tourists and travellers across the world who used to bath at the banks of river Ohio used to lose their soaps as they drowned into the water. The accidental discovery of this unique soap solved this problem forever and this soap was floating on water. The rise of the fallen …. Proctor and Gamble evolved as Ivory soap manufacturer from a candle maker.

If we try with … one simple effort and courage to move one step ahead to failure there awaits the Success!!

It’s true that … We always fail when we don’t TRY but not when we TRY and fail …

In this world of turbulence everyone of us have the same question …

What I need to do to make my Aims look simple … ?? Is there a universal solution to simplify the way to look at it?.

What I need to do? to simplify my Aim … A good question we have!

If we could understand what is AIM – GOAL – TARGET, we have universal solution for simplifying our AIMS

so what we need to do is to …

Define Aim… Set Goal … and Work on Target …

I take an example of dart board game to explain the whole event in a simple way..

Whats my Aim … ?

My Aim is to hit all darts into center of every dartboard I hit down

A Tough ask for an Amateur like me …. I am worried

.

No doubt my Aim looks tough let me simplify it by dividing it into several goals then .. ..

Whats my Goal ..?

My Goal is to hit all darts at the center of one dart board at a time

Not as tough as my Aim but if I try I could do that ….

.

Even my goal seems bigger …. can I simplify it further let me try

Working on a Target …

My Target is to hit the center of the dart board

My Goal made much simple this time …

.

I am going to find it easy to hit target much simply than my AIM … If I practice perfection at this level my Aim is no longer complex.

The same strategy is followed by Multi National Companies too .. They set an Aim for Sales growth in an year and then they divide Aim into 4 quarters which we call goals and they review their performance every month further breaking the goals into targets.

If we learn to breakup complex things into their simplest forms and work on each simple task at a time … after sometime we will be left out with an achievement behind.

If you keep on throwing pebbles behind that come in your way and walk your way ahead one step at a time after sometime you will find that you climbed up a mountain.

The day I joined Engineering … My Dad said “I would like to see you successful in your life” I smiled back at Dad that day but, I never questioned him what he meant by SUCCESS.

Seven years after my Graduation my Dad said “Son, am happy that you are successful in life. I am proud of you” but this time I haven’t let the chance go by to ask him “Dad what is Success?” he replied ” well today you have a good job, earning decent pay checks, you own a car, you live in a house of your own and today you have all I have dreamed of you owning.”

Is Success so simple to earn? Is my Bank statement a measure of my SUCCESS ……

Its not my Dad alone who defines success in terms of achievements. A student whom I recently counseled said “Success is about working with GOOGLE“. One of my colleague defines success, being promoted as Vice President of the company.

Is success an end to what we have desired to become?

I understood one thing .. everybody has their own definitions of success… but they are all confused between achieving set goals and Success. My curiosity to define Success has doubled despite of my failure to analyze it from my friends and colleagues. I thought better I analyze the lives of Successful people to define Success.

I have read about Thomas Alva Edision who had 10,000 failed experiments in his store. Mother Teressa, founder of Charities and Missionaries world wide, begged in her early days to feed those needy children. Steve Jobs, CEO of APPLE AND PIXAR was once fired out of his own company that he founded. If all these people are called successful with bad patches in their lives how do we define SUCCESS.

My Analysis did not go wrong .. Look at any great personality whom we call successful today … travel back into the history by turning down the pages in those valuable books of great historians… one thing we find in common with all those people who we call successful is … what I call the definition of Success

I define success as willingness to get better every time we fall and courage to continue even when we fail. It is all about believing and loving what we do …. completely with our heart, mind and soul….

And, finally how do we measure Success? Well, I say, the positive impact it creates in people’s mind. The far it reaches, the bigger is your success.
